China's Wuchang orders 100-tonne SWL MacGregor crane
MacGregor, a company that is part of Cargotec, has attained an order from the Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Co. for a 100-tonne SWL active heave-compensated subsea crane.
The MacGregor crane will be fitted directly onto the anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel, which is undergoing construction for the offshore specialist, China Oilfield Services Limited (COSL).
The Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Co., which is a subsidiary of one of China's largest shipbuilders, the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC), intends to deliver the Rolls-Royce UT788-design vessel in March 2015.
The Rolls-Royce UT788 ships have various capabilities, which include the ability to function in very deep water, towing, supplying and supporting oil and gas rigs. They are also able to support any underwater construction projects. The UT range of vessels also includes specialised ships such as seismic, emergency response, rescue, well-stimulation, well intervention and drilling vessels.
As soon as the vessel is fully functional, it will perform offshore services in the South China Sea. It will also have the capability of carrying out deepwater and ultra-deepwater work in other offshore areas such as Brazil, West Africa, the Gulf of Mexico and the North Sea.
MacGregor is a provider of engineering solutions and services for marine cargoes and offshore loads. Its products supply the maritime transportation, offshore and naval logistics markets, in ports and terminals as well as on board ships.
Cargotec is a supplier of cargo handling solutions. They are used in ships, ports, terminals, distribution centres, heavy industry and in on-road load handling. The company has three business areas, which include MacGregor, Kalmar and Hiab.
